Bahariasaurus ingens

One of the most enigmatic of fossil theropods, Bahariasaurus was a large, likely predatory theropod known and named from the Bahariya Formation of Egypt and from the Farak Formation of Niger. Not much is known about this huge theropod; which is known only from a few remains that have since been destroyed during an air raid in WW2; one of which included a large femur. The proportions of these bones suggested an animal of 12 meters (39 feet) in length. The taxonomic relationships of Bahariasaurus are still very contested; there have been several instances where the genus has been synonymized with the conspecific Deltadromeus. In the latest research, Deltadromeus has been found to be a likely Noasaurid, while Bahariasaurus seems to share the most synapomorphies (similarities in morphology) with Megaraptorans and Tyrannosauroids. My reconstruction of Bahariasaurus here is highly speculative; and meant to reflect an animal situated near the base of the Coelurosauria and resembling animals like Megaraptor.
